Located in the bustling heart of Stone Town you find The Swahili House – traditional Swahili influences and authentic hospitality combined with modern day facilities.

The Swahili house was originally set up and used as an Indian merchant house in the 19^th century.  In the 125 years that followed the building became a home to one of the many sultan families that inhabited Zanzibar.

Most of the hotel has been restored into its original state, which makes your stay at the Swahili house a real Zanzibari experience!

The impressive building has 5 floors that are all built around a beautiful traditional Zanzibar courtyard. The hotel offers 23 rooms that are spread out over 4 floors.

High above the bustling streets of Stone Town our airy rooftop houses a bar and spacious restaurant area. Here you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, a cocktail or dinner while indulging in stunning views of the old town and the Swahili coastline.

The rooftop terrace also houses a relaxing plunge pool and sundeck area overlooking the Indian Ocean.
