A small and elegant structure, comprised of 14 sea-front cottages and an infinity swimming pool with a conductive atmosphere, surrounded by a tropical garden.

Karamba is the perfect gateway to an exotic African paradise. Set in the fisherman´s village of Kizimkazi, on the South west coast of Zanzibar. In the Menai Bay (the largest Conservation Area in Zanzibar).

All bungalows face the ocean, a few meters from the sea. Each bungalow has been individually designed to provide comfort with character, retaining a natural and ecological style, and has a double bed with canopy and mosquito net, mosquito nets on the windows, ceiling fan, bathroom with hot shower, a dressing room and a large terrace facing the sea.

we offer 5 different types of bungalows: Standard A, Standard B, Superior, Afrika and Nakyru.

• Standard A. Small and rustic, with “Queen size” bed and open-air shower. Very close to the beach
• Standard B. More spacious, with double “King size” bed of Zanzibarian style and indoor shower. Some of them are family rooms.
  Superior. More spacious and with open-air bath under the stars, most of them with private garden. Some are duplex (ideal for families).
• Afrika. Spacious, rustic duplex. With a bath facing the sea and open-air shower under the stars, spacious terrace and private oceanfront garden with deck chairs.
• Nakyru. Specially designed for “honeymoon”, it has total privacy and direct access to the sea. With open-air bath shower in the beachfront and an extra bed in the rooftop to sleep under the stars. It has a spacious terrace designed for outdoor living and exceptional views. It includes a minibar.

The main sea front restaurant offers delicious, innovative, fresh and natural meals. From breads and jams to soups and sauces, everything you’ll eat at Karamba is home made.

Almost all of the vegetables used in our kitchen are grown organically either in our backyard or sourced locally from the surrounding villages. Our chef buys fish directly from the fishermen each morning.

Our cuisine is appreciated for its quality, originality, variety and the use of organic and Ayurveda products.  Specialized in the combination of Mediterranean and Swahili cuisine, we also offer a vegetarian menu, a wide variety of seafood and Asian specialties.
